2019 Jeep Cherokee in Alhambra, CAJeep debuted its Cherokee in 2014, and since then, the vehicle has been a well-loved member of the Jeep family. For 2019, it will see several exciting updates that will make it even more sought after by both crossover lovers and off-road enthusiasts. With its restyled body, safety and infotainment features, and improved power and drivability, the 2019 Cherokee is now better than ever before.

New Engine

Perhaps the most exciting news for the 2019 Cherokee is that Jeep has added a new engine option to the mix — a 2.0-liter turbo-four that offers a powerful 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, making it the fastest in the lineup. The standard engine on most trims is the 3.2-liter V-6, which puts out a respectable 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The base model engine is a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four with 180 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The turbo can tow up to 4,000 pounds, and the V-6 can tow up to 4,500 pounds.

Revised Transmission and Suspension

Jeep has retuned the Cherokee’s nine-speed automatic transmission for better drivability. Jerky, delayed gear changes have been refined, and the new transmission won’t try to upshift as quickly, which means power is more readily available when needed. The suspension has also seen some upgrades with the new model year, including updated springs, roll bars, dampers, and bushings. All this tuning gives the Cherokee smoother handling and control on the road.

New Styling

Jeep completely redesigned the headlight layout for the 2019 Cherokee. Gone is the unusual, six-eyed appearance of previous year models, and in its place is a more conventional headlight placement. The headlights and fog lights are now LEDs, which provide better visibility, and the running lights are now wider and integrated into the headlights. Rounding out the look, the hood has a more upright appearance, and the front clip has been slightly modified as well. And Jeep didn’t forget the back; the taillights and exhaust tips have been updated, too.

Infotainment Features

Jeep has also updated the Cherokee’s infotainment system with faster processors and standard UConnect 4 with 7.0-inch touch-screen displays on all trims. Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities are also standard. Each vehicle comes with a base six-speaker audio system, USB port, 12-volt outlets, and an auxiliary jack. Upper trims offer more options, including an available 8.4-inch touch screen to go with the standard UConnect 4 or optional UConnect 4NAV, voice-command capabilities, satellite radio, an Alpine premium sound system, and additional USB ports.

Safety Features

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee comes standard with several safety features, including a backup camera, eight airbags, and hill start assist. Available features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and roll mitigation.

Lots of revisions have been made to the 2019 Jeep Cherokee to make it a fantastic vehicle for both the daily driver and the off-road adventurer.
